Premarital check-ups before Pregnancy
If you want having a child, should be planned and prepared long before the pregnancy. One of them is by knowing the health condition of each spouse. This step is unfortunately still rare run of Indonesian women. In fact, examination of the so-called premarital check-ups have a very important function mathe hausaufgaben.
The function of premarital check-ups in between to ensure the condition and readiness of the mother’s body so he could be a healthy medium for the growth of the fetus. In addition, medical tests before pregnancy is also useful to know whether the mother has an infection that can affect fetal health.
That way, it will generate a healthy pregnancy and produce quality offspring.
“Preparing for pregnancy is like building a house, there should be a plan, building materials, cement, wood, and a good finish for beautiful results. Same with the pregnancy, necessary to prepare the egg and sperm, as well as good treatment to the developing fetus optimally,” says consultant obstetrician and fetomaternal of Lady Aliyah Hospital, Dr. Sri Pudyastuti SpOG (K), in a health seminar themed “Get Ready for Miracles , Seminar on Prenatal Check Up” on Prodia Building, Jakarta.
According to her, this examination must be done ahead of time. In fact, preferably about six months before marriage. Those tests include hormonal examination in the laboratory, such as blood and urine tests are complete. Examination of this type is important to get the reproductive capacity conditions, such as the basic pattern of hormonal, spare eggs (ovarian reserve), and the presence of ovulation.
Usually, if deemed necessary, the doctor will add checks testosterone and thyroid hormones. In addition, no less important is the examination of hepatitis B infection, TORCH (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex) and chlamydia.
“Fear, the infection will be transmitted to the fetus and cause abnormalities in babies. Rubella for example, can cause deafness, cataracts, cardiac abnormalities even in infants,” said Sri.
Sri said, abnormalities in the growth of the fetus in the womb is divided in two, namely because of chromosomal abnormalities and abnormalities that can be prevented. Chromosomal abnormality occurs due to heredity that are passed through genyang abnormal from one or both parents, eg an empty pregnancy (blighted ovum).
“In this case, abortion is enlarged, but only the bag, there is no fetus,” he said.
The abnormalities that could be avoided, such as disorders due to a contagious infection that attacks the fetus which can lead to deformed babies. Therefore, as has been recommended since the beginning, before pregnancy becomes mandatory inspection conducted by the prospective mother.
“If calculated statistically, the baby in the womb who have abnormalities occurred in 15 percent of pregnancies, while the remaining 85 percent of normal,” said Sri.
Sri argues, if it does not have time to do tests before marriage, then there is still opportunity to do so before conception or in the preconception period. The recommended test is actually almost the same as the examination of premarital check-ups, but coupled with the examination of anti-Toxoplasma IgM, anti-rubella IgM, and CMV IgM.
To prepare for a healthy pregnancy, Sri ask the mother to lose weight by eating nutritious foods and exercising (for those who are overweight). Starting a diet after pregnancy, according to him, is not recommended.
“Do not smoke. Also avoid exposure to secondhand smoke. Do not drink alcohol. Do not take random drug without a doctor’s knowledge. And that is not less important is to see a doctor and check up to the lab, “he said.
When the examination results showed abnormalities or health problems that can affect pregnancy, Sri said, do get treatment as directed.
He also expressed the importance of adequate nutrition for pregnant women. Functions of nutrients in pregnant women, among others, maternal health, fetal growth and development, preparing for the production of milk (breast milk) so that the wounds heal faster delivery.
“Malnutrition in pregnant women is not only harmful to the mother, but also dangerous for the baby to be born. The danger for pregnant women, among others, the mother is weak, anorexia, anemia, bleeding, and abortion or miscarriage. The danger for babies, namely babies born premature birth and even death,” said Sri.
